Terms of Service

These Terms of Service (the “Terms”) govern your access to and use of Squad Rivals, an independent decentralised application (the “Service”). By creating an account, signing in, or otherwise using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

1. What Squad Rivals is

Squad Rivals is a skill-based fantasy sports prediction game. Outcomes are determined by your knowledge, judgement, and strategy in selecting squads and predictions, scored against real-world match results under a published, deterministic scoring engine. It is not a casino, lottery, sweepstake, or game of chance, and it is not a wager or bet against other players. You never stake against, and never win, another player's funds.

The Service is independent. It is not operated by, affiliated with, or endorsed by Socios, Socios Europe Services Limited, Chiliz, or any football club, league, or governing body.

2. Not gambling

The Service is designed and operated as a contest of skill, not gambling. Prizes are earned for skilful play and are not contingent on a chance-based event. Nothing in the Service constitutes a wager, and we do not offer betting, casino, or games-of-chance products. Because the legal classification of skill contests varies by jurisdiction, you are responsible for ensuring your participation is lawful where you live.

3. Eligibility & age (18+)

You must be at least 18 years old, or the age of majority in your jurisdiction if higher, to use the Service. By using the Service you represent and warrant that you meet this requirement. The Service is not directed at, and may not be used by, anyone under 18. We may require age verification and may suspend or terminate accounts that do not meet this requirement.

4. Restricted jurisdictions

The Service is not available to, and may not be used by, persons located or resident in jurisdictions where skill-contest or related real-money play is prohibited or restricted. Restricted jurisdictions include, without limitation, the State of New York and any other U.S. state or country we designate from time to time. We may use IP-based geolocation and other signals to enforce this, and we may block, suspend, or terminate access from restricted locations. You may not use a VPN or other means to circumvent these restrictions. The full restricted list will be finalised by legal counsel and published in these Terms.

5. Accounts, wallets & security

You sign in through our authentication provider (Privy), which may create or connect a wallet. You are responsible for safeguarding your sign-in method, wallet, and any recovery factors. We do not custody your wallet or seed phrase. You are responsible for all activity under your account. Notify us promptly of any unauthorised use.

6. Fees, fan tokens & on-chain transactions

The free tier requires no on-chain transaction to play. Some features involve real on-chain transactions using your own funds — for example paid challenge tickets, AI features, fan-token activation escrow, and in-app swaps that route through a third-party decentralised exchange and may carry a routing fee. On-chain transactions are processed by public blockchain networks, require network gas, and are final and irreversible once confirmed. You are responsible for understanding any transaction before you sign it.

7. No guarantee of value

In-game rewards (including fans, reward points, and packs) are for entertainment and gameplay. We make no representation or guarantee that any in-game item, reward, fan token, or other digital asset has, or will retain, any monetary value. Digital-asset prices are volatile and may go to zero. Nothing in the Service is investment, financial, legal, or tax advice. You participate at your own risk.

8. Scoring & settlement finality

Challenges are scored by a deterministic engine from the squad, fixtures, and configuration captured at lock. Tentative results may be shown shortly after matches conclude. A finalisation window (currently 24 hours after match end) allows for post-match data corrections (for example VAR overturns or statistician revisions). After finalisation, settlement is committed and is final, except where a dispute is resolved in your favour under Section 9. You can review the scoring rules on the Scoring page.

9. Disputes about your score

If you believe a settled score is wrong, you may open a dispute through the in-app disputes flow within the published window. We review disputes in good faith and aim to respond within 24 hours. If we agree, an adjustment is posted to your ledger with an audit trail. Our determination of a gameplay dispute is final. This Section is separate from any legal dispute-resolution terms below.

10. Acceptable use

You agree not to: cheat, exploit bugs, use bots or automated play, manipulate match data or scoring, operate multiple accounts to gain an unfair advantage, circumvent geolocation or eligibility controls, or use the Service for any unlawful purpose. We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms.

11. Disclaimers

The Service is provided “as is” and “as available” without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or secure, or that match data supplied by third parties is accurate. Blockchain networks and third-party providers are outside our control.

12. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, neither Squad Rivals nor its operators, contributors, or service providers will be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss of profits, data, digital assets, or value, arising out of or related to your use of the Service. Our aggregate liability for any claim is limited to the amounts you paid to us, if any, for the Service in the three months preceding the claim. Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations, so some of these may not apply to you.

13. Indemnity

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Squad Rivals and its operators from any claims, losses, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising from your use of the Service, your breach of these Terms, or your violation of any law or third-party right.

14. Changes & termination

We may modify the Service or these Terms at any time. Material changes will be reflected here with a new “Updated” date, and where required we will ask you to re-accept. Your continued use after changes constitutes acceptance. We may suspend or terminate access at our discretion, including for breach of these Terms.

15. Governing law & dispute resolution

These Terms, and any dispute arising from them or the Service, are governed by the laws and subject to the dispute-resolution forum that will be specified here upon legal counsel review. Where permitted, disputes will be resolved on an individual basis. This section is a placeholder pending counsel finalisation.
